The Education office of Kediri briefed the Generation Planning (GenRe) ambassador finalist regarding the impact of early marriage on Thursday (31/03/2022) in Women’s Empowering Department, Child Protection and Birth Control office (DP3AP2KB). The GenRe Ambassador finalists are the selected students from some schools and universities who have passed the selection.
This briefing was opened by the MC followed by praying. Estu Weningsari, S.P, M.M.A as the speaker, explained about data of DP3AP2KB of Kediri in 2021, there were 61 people who had married under their age (57 girls and 4 boys). This case is not only raises in Kediri but also in many cities in Indonesia especially during the covid-19 pandemic. It was recorded, in 2019, there were 23,700 cases of the early marriage and it increased in 2020 which to 34.000 people. This case due to various factors come from their personality, family, culture and society, educational background, economic, lack of reproductive health services, gender equality and media.
Estu Weningsari also explained several impacts of the early married. She explained that the early married caused dying during childbirth greater, 40% of children stunted born, 85% teenage girls end their education after marriage and 41% the early marriage end up with the domestic-violence.
