This regent regulation explains the importance of all the society elements in preventing the child marriage such as local government, village government and civil society. In her presentation, she explained that one of the causes of human trafficking is child marriage. “ the child marriage occurs in villages. I hope all parents would be aware that planning their children to marry under the age is not good choice. They have to consider about their mental health, readiness in psychological and economic sides. Don’t make your children suffer for twice. First, they suffer of their previous family because of economic problem. Second, they would get same situation when they marry while they do not have enough education and skill. Due to this difficult economic situation, women have to work to earn for living and take every change they get to fulfill their families’ needs. This situation makes women vulnerably to be victims of the criminal act of human trafficking.”
Fajar Kurniasih (Nia) stated that KITA INSTITUTE Wonosobo commits to socialize the impacts of under aged marriage and to campaign preventing under 19 years old marriage to the rural community and villagers. “KITA INSTITUTE commits to be involved in preventing under aged marriage in Wonosobo. That is our vision to fulfill women and child’s rights. Therefore, under aged marriage or child marriage is clearly against children’s right. In this case, the right to get education would be violated. The under aged married would cause violent through children and women and the criminal act of human trafficking. Many children are forced to marry because of their economic problem of their families especially for those who live in rural areas and villages. Furthermore, they have lack understanding of the impact of the under aged marriage. They need to be educated about the impact continuously by involving religion leaders and the community leaders of the area or village. By giving the socialization and education, we hope the community would aware and understand about the impacts and the under aged marriage would decrease. The children can continue their education and build their skill weather in formal or informal education. Continuing education would help them for their future such as having appropriate job and being freed from the criminal act of human trafficking. (Eka)
