Coordinator of the JPIC SSpS Women's and Child Protection Home, West Flores Sr. Maria Yosefina Pahlawati emphasized that the most dominant acts of violence occurred against children and women. And this has an impact on psycho-social disorders of concern. For this reason, anti-violence programs are needed in schools. This statement was conveyed on the occasion of a workshop on preventing bullying and acts of violence on Saturday 16/10/2021 at Stella Maris Vocational School, Labuan Bajo-West Manggarai, NTT.

The workshop was also attended by the Head of the West Manggarai Child Protection and Empowerment Protection Agency, Melki Nurdin and the Manggarai Cluster WVI Manager, Kristian Yansen Sahputra

Melki Nurdin said that there must be anticipation of changing times that are increasingly complex. Because thirty-four percent of Indonesia's population are children, or there are around 87 million people who are categorized as children. There is a difference between the children of the past and the children of today. Furthermore, Melki shows the division of generations according to experts. First, the baby boomer generation (1946-1964), second, generation X (1965-1980), third, generation Y (1981-1994), generation Z (1995-2010), and generation Alpha (2011-2025).

Generation Alpha is claimed to be the generation most familiar with technology and the smartest generation compared to the previous generation. The differences in each generation require special treatment and protection for children.

Meanwhile, Manager of WVI Cluster Manggarai, Kristian Yansen Sahputra, said that it was the first time he participated and saw the very clear implementation flow of a project. "We are ready to provide support and cooperation with the school," said Yansen

Yansen stated that in West Manggarai there are two dominant issues that need to be followed up, namely the issue of stunting and violence against children, particularly physical, psychological, and sexual violence. The media and modes used can be through social media or directly.

As a Central School of Excellence, Stella Maris Vocational School has developed an anti-bullying program. The MGMP team of BK teachers conducted internal research on the existence of bullying in schools. The results show that there has been bullying and acts of violence that have occurred so far at Stella Maris Vocational School.

To overcome the facts related to bullying in schools, Stella Maris Vocational School will carry out the "Roots" program and the Fun School Movement (GSM) with the aim to create a comfortable environment in the school so that students feel at home in teaching and learning activities.
