A group of women volunteers who care about migrant workers in Malacca Regency, East Nusa Tenggara Province held an audience as well as building a network with the wife of the Malacca regent, Drg. Maria Nahak at the Malaka Regent's residence on July 25, 2021. This hearing was held to introduce the existence of a female volunteer group concerned with migrants which was formed since February 14, 2021. The meeting was attended by 6 representatives from a female volunteer group concerned with migrant workers and was received directly by the wife of the Regent of Malaka and her staff . The meeting was conducted under strict Health protocols and was conducted outdoors.
The women's volunteer group caring for migrants in Malaka Regency is a women's group formed by the Women's and Children's Service Partner (MiLAP), an institution that since 2017 has provided services for migrants and victims of human trafficking in Malaka Regency. Women volunteer groups who care about migrants consist of housewives and wives of migrant workers who are specifically assisted to become an advocacy team on human trafficking issues at the local level.
Drg. Maria Nahak welcomes the presence of a female volunteer group caring for migrants in Malacca Regency, East Nusa Tenggara Province considering that undocumented migration is a big problem in Malacca and many women and children are left behind and even lost contact with their families. Drg. Maria Nahak, stated that the government should appreciate the initiative to form a women's volunteer group who cares about migrants. Therefore, she is willing to be invited to take part in the activities that will be carried out by women volunteer groups who care about migrants. (MiLAP)
